On 02 May 2013, the town of Al-Bayda, located in the&nbsp; of Tartus governorate, was subjected to a large-scale assault from multiple fronts, resulting in a tragedy that affected the town, home to approximately 6,000 people. The operation left hundreds dead and detained, including women and children, in addition to the burning and looting of homes and the displacement of residents.In its database, the Syrian Archive preserved 171 records from available sources (videos, statements, reports), including 95 unique records. The preserved records include shocking videos of the victims and the extent of the destruction, as well as footage depicting potential perpetrators of these violations.The data documented by the Syrian Archive included 55 records (links) showing killings in the town of Al-Bayda, and harrowing scenes of families—including men, women, and children—who were killed inside their homes, in public squares, and on the streets, as well as footage showing piles of charred bodies inside a store.As for other violations, the data included five links documenting arrests in the town, two links referring to cases of rape, 23 video clips showing burning houses and material damage, and eight links depicting shelling and columns of smoke rising from the town’s neighbourhoods.The casualties figures varied; a<a href="https://www.hrw.org/ar/report/2013/09/13/256470">&nbsp;Human Rights Watch</a> investigation documented 167 names of people who died at the time, including at least 23 women and 14 children. Meanwhile, the<a href="https://snhr.org/public_html/wp-content/pdf/arabic/Blatant_Ethnic_cleansing_in_Syria.pdf">&nbsp;Syrian Network for Human Rights</a> documented in its report at the time the deaths of 264 people by name, including 28 women and 34 children.The data reveals consistent testimonies from survivors of the Al-Bayda massacre, who reported that the assailants separated men from women and executed them on the spot by shooting, beheading, crushing their skulls with stones, or by burning them, going so far as to wipe out entire families. This was accompanied by looting and the burning of homes, cars, and motorcycles.By cross-referencing geographical landmarks, the Syrian Archive was able to identify locations in the town where individuals in camouflage uniforms and others in black military uniforms were present—specifically around the main square, near a mosque, and on public roads—the very same locations where the dead bodies appeared in the video footage.Regarding the identification of the parties involved, the Syrian Archive was able to identify images of personnel deployed throughout the town. Reports and video footage indicate the participation of both Assad government forces (as evidenced by the appearance of the Special Forces emblem) and the National Defence Forces (videos show the National Defence Forces emblem), Reports also included allegations of the involvement of members of the Assad government’s security forces and the Popular Committees, as well as armed groups from neighbouring villages . In the same context, the involvement of the Lebanese Hezbollah and the militia Syrian Resistance for the Liberation of the Iskenderun in the massacre was also noted.The importance of this documentation is underscored by the Syrian Archive’s observation that 83 videos of the massacre have been removed from social media platforms, making them accessible only through preserved copies in the Archive’s database. This is an example of the impact of the platforms' moderation policies, which have resulted in the removal of hundreds of thousands of videos documenting violations and war crimes in Syria; thereby threatening the potential loss of evidence and hindering efforts to achieve justice and hold perpetrators to account.Through its work in preserving open-source materials related to human rights in Syria, the Syrian Archive seeks to protect the historical narrative and ensure that these documents are preserved as a primary reference for future transitional justice efforts.&nbsp;

في الثاني من مايو/أيار 2013، تعرّضت بلدة البيضا التابعة لمحافظة طرطوس، لاقتحام واسع من عدة محاور، ما أسفر عن مأساة طالت البلدة التي يسكنها نحو 6 آلاف نسمة. خلفت العملية مئات القتلى والمعتقلين، بينهم نساء وأطفال، فضلاً عن حرق ونهب المنازل وتهجير الأهالي.ضمن بياناته، وثّق الأرشيف السوري 171 مادة من المصادر المتاحة (فيديوهات، بلاغات، تقارير) من بينها 95 مادة غير مكرّرة. تضمنت الوثائق فيديوهات صادمة للضحايا، وحجم الدمار، بالإضافة إلى مقاطع ترصد المتورطين المحتملين في هذه الانتهاكات.البيانات التي وثقها الأرشيف تضمنت 55&nbsp;مادة (رابطاً) يوثق&nbsp;عمليات القتل في بلدة البيضا، ومشاهد قاسية لعائلات تضم رجالاً ونساءً وأطفالاً، قُتلوا داخل منازلهم وفي الساحات والطرقات العامة، إضافة إلى مقاطع تظهر جثثاً مكدسة تعرضت للاحتراق داخل أحد المتاجر.وعلى صعيد الانتهاكات الأخرى، احتوت البيانات على خمسة روابط توثق اعتقالات في البلدة، ورابطين يشيران إلى حالات اغتصاب، إلى جانب 23 مقطع فيديو تظهر احتراق المنازل والأضرار المادية، و8 روابط ترصد القصف وتصاعد أعمدة الدخان من أحياء البلدة.تباينت الإحصاءات فيما يخص أعداد الضحايا، إذ أشار&nbsp;<a href="https://www.hrw.org/ar/report/2013/09/13/256470">تحقيق هيومن رايتس ووتش</a> إلى توثيق 167 اسماً لأشخاصٍ قضوا حينها، بينهم ما لا يقل عن 23 سيدة و 14 طفلاً. بينما وثقت الشبكة السورية لحقوق الإنسان في<a href="https://snhr.org/public_html/wp-content/pdf/arabic/Blatant_Ethnic_cleansing_in_Syria.pdf"> تقريرها</a> آنذاك مقتل 264 شخصاً بالاسم، من بينهم 28 سيدة و34 طفلاً.تظهر البيانات شهاداتٍ متطابقة لناجين من مجزرة البيضا، أفادوا بقيام العناصر المقتحمة بفصل الرجال عن النساء وإعدامهم ميدانياً بطلقات نارية أو ذبحاً، أو عبر تهشيم رؤوسهم بالحجارة، أو إحراقهم، وصولاً إلى تصفية عائلات بأكملها، وترافق ذلك مع عمليات نهب وحرق للمنازل والسيارات والدراجات النارية.عبر مطابقة المعالم الجغرافية، تمكن الأرشيف السوري من تحديد مواقع في البلدة تظهر وجود عناصر بالزي العسكري المموه، وآخرون بالزي العسكري الأسود، وذلك في محيط الساحة الرئيسية وبالقرب من أحد المساجد وعلى الطرقات العامة، وهي المواقع ذاتها التي ظهرت فيها جثث القتلى في المقاطع المصورة.وفي سياق تحديد الجهات المتورطة، تمكن الأرشيف السوري من رصد صور لعناصر منتشرين في البلدة، حيث تشير البلاغات والمقاطع المصورة إلى مشاركة كلٍ من قوات حكومة الأسد (عبر ظهور شعار القوات الخاصة) وقوات الدفاع الوطني (يظهر شعار الدفاع الوطني في عدد من المقاطع المصورة). كما تضمنت البلاغات ادعاءات بمشاركة عناصر من أجهزة الأمن التابعة لحكومة الأسد، واللجان الشعبية، إضافة إلى مجموعات مسلحة من القرى المجاورة لبلدة البيضا، كما أُشير في ذات السياق إلى مشاركة حزب الله اللبناني، وميليشيا المقاومة السورية لتحرير لواء اسكندرون في المجزرة.إن أهمية هذا التوثيق تبرز في ظل رصد الأرشيف السوري حذفَ 83 مقطع فيديو مرتبط بأحداث مجزرة البيضا من منصات التواصل الاجتماعي، حيث لم يعد الوصول إليها متاحاً إلا من خلال النسخ المحفوظة في قاعدة بيانات الأرشيف. يشكل هذا مثالاً على أثر سياسات الحذف التي تنتهجها تلك المنصات، والتي طالت مئات الآلاف من المقاطع التي توثق انتهاكات وجرائم حرب في سوريا؛ مما يهدد بضياع الأدلة ويعرقل مسارات تحقيق العدالة ومحاسبة المرتكبين.&nbsp;من خلال عمله في حفظ المواد مفتوحة المصدر المرتبطة بحقوق الإنسان في سوريا،&nbsp; يسعى الأرشيف السوري إلى حماية السردية التاريخية، وضمان حفظ الوثائق كمرجع أساسي لجهود العدالة الانتقالية مستقبلاً.
